For what does it profit a man?

If you hear a report that I was coming out of the men’s restroom in the Tom Thumb – it is sad to say, but the story is true.  But, in my defense, no men were waiting to use it and the woman ahead of me in line for the ladies’ room used it first.

What will we do when we see a need?  How will we respond?

I know of those who have:

  • Given up a career
  • Rebuilt bridges
  • Made up the guest room
  • Forgiven
  • Sold the diamond ring
  • Swallowed their pride
  • Kept silent
  • Spoken up
  • Eaten crow
  • Taken out a second mortgage
  • Sought counsel
  • Tapped into the emergency fund
  • Given more than they had
  • Accepted
  • Stayed up late to talk
  • Bought the coffee
  • Worn the shoes another year
  • Moved into the retirement apartment
  • Loaned the car keys
  • Bought groceries
  • Kept attending
  • Volunteered
  • Pushed away from the table
  • Worked late
  • Guarded the men’s room door for me.
  • Loved me when I wasn’t lovable.

Stepping up to help others may not be profitable, comfortable or convenient, but it can change a life.

It’s time we gather together and make the changes that we know need to be made. Start now.

Love,

Jill (just one of God’s kids)

Then He called His disciples and the crowds to come over and listen. “If any of you wants to be my follower,” He told them, “you must put aside your own pleasures and shoulder your cross, and follow me closely. If you insist on saving your life, you will lose it. Only those who throw away their lives for my sake and for the sake of the Good News will ever know what it means to really live. And how does a man benefit if he gains the whole world and loses his soul in the process? For is anything worth more than his soul?” (Mark 8:34-37)
