This is crazy! It is almost midnight on New Year’s Eve and I am still awake! I realized I need to share one more thing before this year is over.
Last night we watched “The Man Who Invented Christmas.” It is a movie about Charles Dickens writing his amazing story, “A Christmas Carol.” You know – the story about Scrooge and the ghosts and Tiny Tim. As the movie started I realized that we had seen this movie several years ago, but we let it run.
It was then that I heard a section from the book that I had never really paid attention to before. Marley, Scrooge’s dead partner, comes in, bound up in heavy chains, and says something that is so important, so profound, so relevant to every generation. As he tries to walk, barely able to move for the massive chain that surrounds his frame, he says:
“I wear the chain I forged in life,” replied the Ghost. “I made it link by link, and yard by yard; I girded it on of my own free will, and of my own free will I wore it.”
I know someone who freed me of the chains that I forged. Here is a song that reminds me of His chain-breaking power. Listen, and if you have questions, just give me a shout. My plans for 2025 can be made flexible.
Love,
Jill (just one of God’s kids)
